Hungarian Experience

Between April 14 and April 17 David Holmes and Brian Drury atternded the IFRS show in Hungary at the invitation of IFRS (Ireland).
The Hungarian branch of IFRS expressed a sincere interest in improving standards within the country.  At present virtually all recovery on major roads is carried out by the Fire Authority.
It was apparent from conversation through interpreters that even though part of the EEC the standards for lifting equipment had not been adopted.
Following a seminar on Saturday which was attended by David, the operators have decided to progress with their plan to introduce European Community standards.
In effect this means that approx. 300 vehicles and 20 companies will require inspection as the group have also expressed interest in PAS43.
RIES have been asked to carry out this work when the structure has been decided.  It is envisaged that we will bring an engineer from Hungary for training and then supervise work in Hungary for a number of days.  When fully trained we would expect to carry out an assessment on the engineer once a year.
We will keep you informed of developments.
